Anti-Ragging and Student Care Squad

Mandate and Structure:

The Anti-Ragging Committee, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ushaa Eswaran, will convene bi-annually and as needed, based on the receipt of petitions or complaints. The Committee is responsible for addressing and resolving issues related to ragging and ensuring the implementation of appropriate measures to combat this problem.

Regulatory Framework:

In compliance with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) regulations for the prevention and prohibition of ragging, as outlined in notification No. 37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009 dated July 1, 2009, the Principal of Mahalakshmi Tech Campus has established this Anti-Ragging Committee. Additionally, in alignment with the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, the Committee has been constituted to uphold these standards.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Awareness Creation: Educate students about the Anti-Ragging Act, including the punishments and legal provisions in force, as well as the specifics of ragging as per the AICTE/UGC regulations and Supreme Court directives.
  • Prevention and Prohibition: Implement measures to prohibit and prevent ragging. This includes addressing any conduct by students that involves teasing, treating, or handling others with rudeness, particularly towards newcomers.
  • Elimination of Ragging Sources: Identify and eliminate sources of ragging. Ensure that any form of undisciplined behavior that may cause hardship, psychological harm, or fear to any student, especially freshers, is effectively addressed.
