Attendance and Leave Policy
- Attendance Requirement: Students must adhere to the college’s attendance policy. A minimum of 85% attendance in each subject is required to be eligible for Semester Examinations.
- Attendance Marking: Attendance is recorded at the beginning of each period. Students who are not present when attendance is taken will be marked as absent. Absence for any single period during a session (except the first period of the FN session) will be recorded as absence for the entire session (Forenoon or Afternoon).
- Leave Application: Students wishing to take leave must submit the leave form in the prescribed format and obtain approval from the Faculty Advisor, Head of Department (HOD), and Principal in advance. For unforeseen circumstances or illness, leave letters may be submitted through a messenger or on the day of return; otherwise, leave may not be granted.
- Absence Consequence: Students who are absent for three consecutive days without prior leave approval will be removed from the nominal roll.
- Scholarship Eligibility: To be eligible for scholarships, students must maintain a minimum of 90% attendance.
- Classroom Protocol: Students must occupy their seats promptly at the sound of the first bell and prepare for their lectures.
- Late Arrival: Students arriving after the assembly must report to the Class Advisor or HOD and sign the late register.
- Classroom Conduct: Students are not permitted to leave the classroom without staff permission. They should avoid walking in the corridors and campus during class hours and maintain a silent and orderly demeanor when moving between rooms.
General Code of Conduct
- Discipline and Respect: Students are expected to uphold discipline and decorum within both the college and hostel. Respect towards authorities, the Principal, and staff is essential. Any form of disobedience or rude behavior will be addressed with seriousness.
- Unity and Harmony: Actions that disrupt the unity and harmony of the College are strictly prohibited. Students should avoid group gatherings, unauthorized meetings, unapproved notices, and any non-academic activities.
- Campus Cleanliness: Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the campus is crucial. Students must not deface walls, desks, or benches with notices, scribbles, or similar actions.
- Dress Code: Students must adhere to the dress code. T-shirts and jeans are not permitted during class hours; only the approved uniform should be worn. Boys must tuck in their shirts. Girls should wear Chudidhars with neatly pinned dupattas; sleeveless Chudidhars are not allowed. Sarees may be worn on special occasions.
- Workshop Attire: In workshops and electrical engineering laboratories, students should wear appropriate attire, including leather shoes and uniforms, and avoid loose-fitting clothes.
- Notice Board Awareness: Students are responsible for reading all notices posted on the notice boards.
- Meeting and Collection Restrictions: Organizing or attending unauthorized meetings, collecting money without Principal’s sanction, and participating in strikes or demonstrations are prohibited. Respectful representation of grievances will be considered.
- Cell Phone Policy: Mobile phones are strictly prohibited on campus and in hostels.
- Language Policy: English is the designated language for communication during college hours.
- Staff Engagement: Students should seek guidance, clarification, and advice from staff advisers regarding their studies.
- Prohibited Materials: Books, magazines, or literature not conducive to healthy education should not be brought to the college.
- Academic Integrity: Malpractices such as cheating, copying, and false declarations are strictly forbidden and will result in disciplinary action.
- Disciplinary Actions: The Principal is authorized to impose penalties, including fines, loss of term-certificate, suspension, or expulsion, as per government educational rules.
- Fee Refund Policy: Fees paid to the college are non-refundable.
Ragging and Eve-Teasing Policy
- Prohibition: Ragging and eve-teasing are serious offenses and strictly prohibited.
- Legal Consequences: Ragging is punishable by a fine up to Rs. 20,000 and rigorous imprisonment for up to three years, as per the Government of Tamil Nadu Act.
- Immediate Action: Students involved in ragging or eve-teasing, whether on campus, in hostels, or outside, will face immediate expulsion from the college.
