Internal Complaint Committee
Commitment to a Safe and Respectful Environment
At Mahalakshmi Tech Campus, we are unwavering in our commitment to providing a safe and supportive academic and working environment for all students and women employees. Aligned with the guidelines of the Supreme Court, UGC, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013, we have established an Internal Complaints Committee dedicated to preventing and addressing any instances of sexual harassment.
Objectives & Activities:
Our Internal Complaints Committee is designed to foster a secure and respectful atmosphere by:
- Promoting Awareness and Safety: Recognizing the evolving challenges faced by women, we emphasize the importance of self-defense training. We organize workshops to empower our students with essential self-defense skills, helping them feel more secure and confident.
- Providing Support and Resources: The committee is dedicated to preventing sexual harassment and ensuring that all members of our community can seek redressal in a supportive and transparent manner.
Self-Defense Training Initiative: Understanding the importance of empowerment, we offer self-defense training workshops for our students. These sessions are integral to our commitment to ensuring safety and confidence among women in our community.
Registration of Complaints:
Should an incident occur, the following procedures are in place to ensure that complaints are handled with the utmost care and efficiency:
- Filing Complaints: Complaints can be lodged directly with any member of the committee. The committee member receiving the complaint must inform the committee within 2 working days.
- Resolution Process: We first explore whether mediation or conciliation can provide a satisfactory resolution. This approach aims to alleviate the formal process’s potential stress for both the complainant and the accused.
- Complaint Details: Complaints may be oral or written. Oral complaints will be documented in writing by the committee or its member and signed by the complainant.
- Timely Reporting: Complaints should be lodged within four weeks of the incident, with an extension possible up to four months in extraordinary circumstances.
- Investigation: The committee will review the complaint and determine if an inquiry is needed. If so, an inquiry committee, consisting of 3 to 5 members with at least 50% women, will be formed.
- Fair and Efficient Inquiry: The process is designed to be complainant-friendly and swift, ensuring decisions are made quickly and appropriately.
- Respecting Privacy: The past sexual history of the complainant will not be questioned during the complaints process.
- Withdrawal of Complaints: Complaints may be withdrawn in writing at any stage. However, if there is evidence of coercion or intimidation, the inquiry will continue.
- Completion of Inquiry: The inquiry will be completed within three months from the date of the complaint. The committee will ensure that both parties have a fair opportunity to present their case.
- Final Report: The inquiry committee will submit a detailed report with findings and recommendations to the main committee. The main committee, in collaboration with the inquiry committee, will forward the findings and recommendations to the management for further action.
At Mahalakshmi Tech Campus, we are dedicated to creating an environment where every member of our community can thrive, free from harassment and discrimination. Our Internal Complaints Committee is a vital part of this commitment, ensuring a respectful and safe space for all.
