First-Year Engineering Admissions Policy
Mahalakshmi Tech Campus – Affiliated to Anna University
Mahalakshmi Tech Campus is committed to providing quality education in engineering and technology, nurturing young minds for a bright future. Our admission process is structured to offer equitable opportunities to all deserving candidates through a transparent, merit-based system aligned with the policies of Directorate of Technical Education, along with a dedicated management quota for aspiring candidates.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Nationality: The applicant must be a citizen of India.
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10th, 12th) or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as core subjects.
- Minimum marks required: 50% in aggregate (40% for SC/ST candidates as per government norms).
- Age Limit: Applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on July 1st of the academic year.
- For Counselling: Admission will be based on the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) conducted by DOTE and Anna University. Candidates must register and participate in the centralized counseling process based on their TNEA rank.
Admissions Quota:
- Government Quota (TNEA):
- 65% of total seats are reserved for candidates admitted through the Government Quota, based on merit as determined by TNEA.
- These seats are filled through the single-window counseling system conducted by Directorate of Technical Education, where candidates are allotted seats based on their TNEA rank and availability of preferred branches.
- Management Quota:
- JEE 80% percentile above or 60% percentile above in Class 12th.
- 35% of total seats are filled under the Management Quota.
- These seats are allocated to students who meet the eligibility criteria but are not allocated a seat through the TNEA counseling process.
- Candidates applying under the Management Quota must apply directly to Mahalakshmi Tech Campus following the admission guidelines. Management Quota admissions are subject to specific procedures and regulations as prescribed by the institution and Anna University.

- Step 1: Application Submission:
- Candidates must register on the TNEA portal (available on Anna University’s official website) and submit the required documents, including mark sheets, ID proof, and caste certificate (if applicable).
- Step 2: Merit List and Counseling:
- The merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
- Candidates are required to participate in the centralized counseling process organized by Anna University. Seats will be allocated based on the TNEA rank, candidate preferences, and availability of seats in the chosen engineering disciplines.
- Step 3: Document Verification:
- After counseling, selected candidates must submit the original documents for verification at the campus, online, or physically at the TFC center as per the TNEA guidelines.
- Step 4: Fee Payment and Confirmation:
- Once the seat is allocated, candidates are required to pay the prescribed admission fees and complete the formalities to confirm their admission.
Admission Process for Management Quota:
- Step 1: Application Submission:
- Candidates wishing to apply under the Management Quota must submit their completed application form directly to the admissions office of Mahalakshmi Tech Campus. The application can be submitted online or in person, depending on the college’s procedure.
- Step 2: Direct Interview and Counseling:
- A personal interview or counseling session may be conducted by the college to assess the eligibility and suitability of the candidate for admission.
- Candidates will be provided with the available options for engineering branches based on the seats available under the management quota.
- After counseling, an offer letter will be given to the candidates, and a confirmation letter will be issued.
- Step 3: Fee Payment:
- Admission under the Management Quota is subject to the payment of the prescribed fees, which may include tuition, development charges, and other institutional fees.
- Candidates are required to complete the fee payment as per the norms to confirm their admission.
- Step 4: Document Verification:
- As part of the process, candidates must submit original documents for verification. This will include their 10th, 12 marks, transfer certificate, and any other necessary documents.
